Ryan
I’ve taught IGCSE Maths for 11 years, both in the classroom and through private tuition. Most of my students come to me for help with Higher-tier algebra, graphs and problem-solving questions. I’m quite methodical in lessons: we usually look at where marks were lost, fix the maths behind it, then try a harder version. Near exams, I use past papers regularly so students get used to unfamiliar wording and working under time pressure.

Hi, I’m an IGCSE Maths tutor with six years of one-to-one teaching experience. I particularly enjoy geometry and trigonometry, although quite a lot of my lessons end up involving algebra somewhere! I keep sessions fairly relaxed and encourage students to show me exactly how they approached a question, including the wrong turns. That normally tells me much more than simply checking the final answer. I also set short practice between sessions when useful.

Before tutoring full time, I worked in data analysis, so I tend to bring a practical angle to IGCSE Maths where it makes sense. I’ve now been tutoring for eight years and work with students across a wide range of abilities. Probability and statistics are particular favourites of mine. For exam preparation, I spend plenty of time on multi-step questions because knowing the topic is only half the job; recognising what the examiner is asking is just as important.

Katie
I’m a qualified secondary maths teacher and have spent more than 15 years teaching IGCSE Maths. These days I tutor online and mostly work with students preparing for their final exams. I’m especially interested in helping with algebraic manipulation, functions and the tougher questions towards the end of Higher papers. My lessons are straightforward: explain the idea properly, work through an example together, then let the student tackle questions independently while I watch their method.

Amanda
Maths was the subject I always enjoyed at school, especially anything involving patterns and number theory. I started tutoring while at university and carried on afterwards, so I’ve now worked with IGCSE Maths students for around five years. I’m fairly informal in lessons and don’t mind going back over basic skills if something hasn’t quite clicked. I often use a shared whiteboard online, which makes it easy for students to write out their working rather than just tell me an answer.

Jenna
I came into tutoring after studying mathematical sciences and working for several years in finance. For the past seven years I’ve concentrated on IGCSE Maths tuition, mainly with students aiming to improve their performance on Higher papers. I’m a big believer in writing out full working, particularly for algebra and coordinate geometry. I also spend time looking at calculator technique and checking methods, as small avoidable errors can make quite a difference across a full paper.
